On Sunday night, I had flown from San Francisco to New York, so the next morning I slept late. At 10:30 A.M., I went to the local coffee shop to have breakfast. The place was almost empty at that hour. I sat down and ordered orange juice, French toast and coffee. The food came quickly and as I was eating, I realized the swinging kitchen door was making an annoying creak. I mentioned it to the waiter; he said that a handyman was coming at 11:00. I moved to another table, faraway from the kitchen door.
As I was finishing my orange juice, a middle-aged woman in a business suit came in and sat down near the offending door. She noticed the noise almost immediately and called over the waiter. He started to explain, but she cut him short and said, "Just use some 3 in 1 Oil." The waiter tried to continue, but she repeated, "3 in 1 Oil." She turned to me and said, "At least there are no noisy children here."
Then a mother with a toddler came in and sat down. The child started babbling loudly and the 3 in 1 lady said, "Good mothers don't bring uncontrollable children into a restaurant." The mother responded,”Mind your own damned business." I had just about finished my breakfast, so I decided to leave.
